This course is aimed at all new workers carrying out construction work, including:

• self-employed persons
• labourers
• apprentices
• trainees
• trades-persons
• supervisors and project managers

This course provides participants with:

• basic principles of health and safety in the construction industry in NSW
• information about preventing workplace injury and illness, workplace injury management and workers compensation in NSW

Nominal course duration

The course duration is 5:30 hours which involves lectures, group discussions and assessment at the end of the course, allow for course duration to be extended if required

• OH&S legislation in NSW
• consultation and communication in OH&S
• implementing health and safety for construction work
• workplace emergencies and first aid for construction work
• workplace injury management and workers compensation in NSW

From 1 July 2008 WorkCover introduced new evidence of identity (EOI) requirements for participants attending OHS Induction for Construction Work (Green/White Card).

Certification

Successful participants will receive a WorkCover statement of completion issued by the accredited trainer.

Training methods place an emphasis on group discussion, group exercises and the interaction of course participants.
